House Rewires
If you have just purchased an old property in Essex that has not had the wiring changed since it was built, then Ario Electrical Services can help. We have experienced electricians that are all highly qualified and very trustworthy that can carry out the work for you. We can also give you a free no obligation quote if you are thinking about having a new property built from scratch that needs new cables, lighting, socket outlets and new switches.
Ario Electrical Services can offer our customers in Essex a complete rewiring service for all types of domestic properties whether they are old or only a few years old. We can also offer you advice on the specific type of installation you require.-
If your electrical wiring was installed a long time ago then it is likely that when it was planned originally, the electricians that completed the work, did not bear in mind the level of electrical equipment a normal household would use today, so maybe only one plug socket was installed in each room. We know ourselves that one plug socket is not enough, so we can install however many you need whether it be single plug sockets or doubles. New electrical cables and switches can also be fitted as well as new lighting that can be energy efficient.
All cables, socket outlets and switches are subject to normal wear and tear but many electrical accessories deteriorate with years of use and misuse. The first signs often reveal themselves in catastrophic events. So having your property re-wired will not only prevent this from happening but will ensure your home is capable to meet the demands of today’s modern appliances.
We carry out many services including:
- Wiring & Re-wiring
- Internal & External Lighting
- Fuse Boards
- Consumer Units
- Earthing
If you have concerns about the electrical systems in your property then contact Ario Electrical Services using our simple contact form or by telephoning us directly on 07473 323302.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Type of Consumer Unit fuse will be fitted?
We will supply you with a user friendly consumer unit which is fitted with a series of circuit breakers. This is controlled by a Residual Current Device (RCD). This is a standard installation which will protect you against electrical shocks. If some of your household appliances trip when the new Consumer Unit has been fitted, we will test your appliances as part of the job.
How long will the Work take to Complete?
As a guideline, a rewire for a three-bedroom home normally takes anywhere between one to two weeks. However, this is dependent upon the works to be carried out on each project. If you would like us to come and assess your property, then give us a call today so we can book you in. We can then give you more of an idea on how long it will take to complete.
Will I be left without any electricity?
We will do our best to ensure that you have electricity at all times when re-wiring your home but there will be times when the electric will have to be turned off. You will not be left without power overnight once we leave for the day. Fridges, freezers, aquariums etc will be protected at all times whilst the work is being carried out.

Door Entry System
By supplying and installing mechanical and electronic door entry systems, which are also known as access control systems, we have a solution to suit everyone. This could be for commercial premises, flats or apartments where there is multiple occupancy, offices, schools, leisure facilities, hospitals or residential homes. There are three main types of door entry systems available, each with their own benefits. These are keypad systems, card swipe systems or proximity control where a fob or smart card may be used. Our team is highly experienced in this area so if you are unsure of what you require we can advise what would be best for your building. We also install full intercom systems using audio or video to complete your security package. We consider the size of the building, how many entry points there are, who would be using them and how regularly, the level of security you require, cost and longevity of the system needed.
There are many advantages to installing a door entry system:
Better security – Control of who can access a property from the outside or internally so enabling ‘zones’ to be created where staff can access. Externally to limit who can enter a building and where they can exit.
Cheaper insurance – A full system can lower insurance premiums by increasing the level of security which can make it more difficult for thieves and vandals. Door entry systems can be a visible deterrent to would-be criminals with an eye on your property.
Lock Control – Doors can be adapted to automatically lock after use or lock at certain times of the day or night as part of an integrated system.

Fuse Board Upgrades
A consumer unit refers to the fuse board or main fuse box and it's where all the electrical wiring form all around the house meets, so that each part can be connected to a fuse. The reason for this is that it offers some protection in the event of a fault or overload, in which case the fuse will blow instead of the wiring over-heating and catching fire. Every part of the home electrical system needs to be fused including the lighting, cooker, sockets, heating and shower etc. Problems can arise from an overload and when parts of the electrical system's wiring begin to fail. The old type fuse boards must be replaced by a next generation Consumer Unit, which has to conform to meet BS7671 amendment 3, which came into force in January 2016. This is to ensure electrical safety around the home, and the unit must also be installed by a registered electrician. A consumer unit can be replaced at any time but this is quite often carried out at the same time as a rewiring job, an electrical repair or any other job that will require compliance with the new regulations. However, before the replacement unit can be installed a test must first be carried out to ensure the existing wiring system is suitable for the new unit. A qualified Ario Electrical Services will produce an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) before starting the change. Together with producing an Electrical Installation Condition Report, the electrical contractor will also ensure the earthing and bonding of your electrical system is up to standard. Also, that the meter tails are the right size and there are adequate means of isolation between the electric meter and the consumer unit. If not, then a further upgrade will be required. The new unit will be different from the existing unit in that it will incorporate two residual current devices (RCDs). This offers further protection to the overall system and allows for isolating parts of the electrical system when required. Although these upgraded units can be purchased quite easily over the counter, it is vitally important that the installation work be carried out by a registered and fully qualified electrician (NAPIT).
